Gena Showalter - Read, Discover, Look For!

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I took a break this weekend and devoured a new-to-me series. The Alien Huntress novels are so cool! Kick-Ass heroines, tough, warrior heroes and intriguing plotlines. They stand on their own, but it’s great to watch secondary characters evolve.

So, here are the three I read:

Mia               Eden                Mishka

Then I found out something totally new. I’ve never heard of an author crossing from adult to young adult and back IN THE SAME SERIES!!!  How cool is that? My girls are old enough we share books. They absolutely love the strength and independence of many of today’s heroines. But they are also loving the direction Young Adult books are moving in. Well, here is a world that offers both genres for us to share.

Young Adult Alien Huntresses:

Phoenix            Camille

And even better, next summer will have the next edition of the Alien Huntress novels. Seduce the Darkness.

Yay!

Until I figure out how to put a video right into my blog, the trailer is on my home page. Please click over and check it out and tell me what you think. :) I love it.

Special thanks to the band, A Day For Dying for letting me use The Unnamed from their soon to be released CD, In the Realm Between Angels & Demons. A perfect name, isn’t it?

Quotes and TBR piles!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

I have had two amazing quotes come through this weekend. First, Cursed on www.Borders.com:

Readers who love pararnomal stories similar to that of Nalini Singh will enjoy the dreamscapes created by Jamie Leigh in CURSED. An intense, action packed stories that will appeal to Sci Fi readers as well. Don’t miss book one BETRAYED, although they both stand on their own.”

Yay!

And from a reader who recently dug Betrayed from her TBR (To Be Read) pile:

“I just finished reading Betrayed by Jamie Leigh Hansen. Why the hell did I wait so long before reading this??? Holy crap it was awesome! I can’t wait to read the next book I love it when I discover writers that make me forget I’m reading. When the words capture my imagination and I can visualize what’s going on and I don’t want to leave that world!”

Great thanks to Erin for her wonderful words. She made my whole weekend when I opened up my email and there were her posts. :) And also a huge thank you to Romance Reviewer. I am so excited that the word about Cursed is already so good!!

Accomplishment is important.

A few years ago, I read quotation. “Motivation is what gets you going. Habit is what keeps you going.” This is such a true statement. A key component in that process is a sense of accomplishment. This is especially true for any artist. Why especially?

Because artists seem to own the most home-based businesses wherein mood and emotion play key roles in productivity. Yeah, that sounds good. lol

But think about it. If we make a goal and don’t meet it, that lack grows dark and pulls us down. But if we make a goal and meet it, then we have an extra push to get going tomorrow. And the next day. So, if you’re down and not making goals, the best thing to do is make one. Let it feel good and inspire you to make another.

That’s what is keeping me going today, anyway. I’m pulling things together. :)
